All students in NLESD have access to Minecraft Education Edition! It is a great way to teach a number of different topics and concepts in a way that it is cross-curricular and fun! Not just that, with the recent changes Minecraft Education now runs on Chromebooks!

Back to School Learning - Screencastify

 

If a picture says a thousand words, what does a short video say? Screencastify is an awesome tool for making short videos of your computer screen. It is great for filming for a how-to, or even short lessons. In the free version, videos are limited to 5 minutes or less, but really, that is a LOT of time to explain one concept. Videos can be saved to your Google Drive, or uploaded to Youtube as well!

Screencastify offers 3 courses to help you get the best out of the tool. 2 levels for teachers, and 1 level for students!

Back to School Learning - FLipgrid Certified!

 

Flipgrid is a video response platform run by Microsoft. Known for its ease of use, and the fact that it works on almost any platform, and it is great way to have student respond to discussions, without having to talk in front of the class!

They offer 3 levels of certification, Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. By the time you finish level 3, you aren't just considered a a Flipgrid Educator, but a GridGuide. 

Again, this a free certification that you might find useful in the coming school year.

Back to School Learning - Kahoot! Certification

 

Kahoot! is a popular online quiz website. Teachers can create quizzes with words and images that can be completed as a group activity, or done solo at home. They offer 3 levels of certification, Bronze, Silver, and Gold, and by completing them you can make yourself quite familiar with the site.
